The Ed Kemper Trio was an independent rock band from Montgomery, Ala., (1997-2004). The band was influenced by short asymmetrical song structures, dynamic volume, fart jokes, odd meter and long walks on short piers. EK3 translated its live show into three studio albums Ding Dong School/Evil on Pinebox Music, How to Win a Sword Fight on Yawn Records and Hack on Moodswing. The first CD records were recorded at Zero Return by Jim Marrer. Their last, Hack, was recorded in West Point, Ga., by Jamie Uertz, Adam Vincent and Lynn Brydges. In addition to the studio recordings the band released one live recording, Like a Legless Baby, Dragging. EK3 was also the focus of the 2004 documentary People Will Eat Anything. Each former member is still active in the Montgomery music scene.
