Kane Sole set off to Melbourne from New Zealand armed with a swag of rough demo recordings, and hit the streets cutting his teeth into the thriving music scene. In December 2009, Kane’s growing number of loyal Sellaband followers helped him raise $15,000US to record his debut album, "Three Little Words."
Teamed with percussionist Sonia Roberts aka Sun, the two wielded together an intimate snapshot of Kane’s journey through love lost and life found. An introspective, almost voyeuristic detailing of events and subsequent emotions. Raw and honest, the album is a banquet style offering of infectious melodies and well crafted lyrics.
Looking to build on the foundations of his first record, Kane posted an ad on a website titled ‘drummer wanted’. Cue Melbourne lad, Rob Costello.
A bassist came, then went. Kent Walsdorf, an old school friend of Kane's knew of this. He said, ‘Hey, I like slapping things, I can play bass.’ In true Kent fashion he went out and bought the bass rig he really couldn’t afford but so desperately yearned for.
The trio worked through the songs from ‘Three Little Words.' Now rigorously writing new material, they promote and road test their live set around Melbourne. People were listening and loved to listen so much that they asked “where can I buy your guys’ cd? Time to record.
Kane Sole & the Sons of May are currently recording their debut EP, with plans to release early 2011.
